Celebrating our Past, Building our Future - Murphy Celebrates Golden Anniversary

Murphy, TX – The City of Murphy was incorporated on September 29, 1958. This year will mark Murphy's 50 th Anniversary! The City will commemorate this special occasion with various events throughout the year culminating with the annual Fall Celebration on September 27 th celebrating Murphy's Golden Anniversary. The theme for this year long celebration will be “Celebrating our Past, Building Our Future”.

The City is requesting individuals who have pictures or memorabilia about Murphy to contact the City Secretary at 972/468-4011. The City would like to have permanent copies of these items as part of the City's archives. If items are not able to be donated, the City will be happy to log your items and have them on loan for the remainder of 2008. These items will be on display at City Hall for our citizens and visitors to enjoy. Some items may be used for a time capsule that will be buried on September 27, 2008.

Additionally, the City will be hosting “Remembering Murphy” Receptions and Interview Sessions throughout the year. If you are interested in participating in a recorded interview session about your Murphy memories, you may contact the City Secretary to schedule an appointment.

Look for more information about Remembering Murphy Receptions and other events in the coming weeks. Join us in Celebrating our Past, Building our Future!

Contact Aimee Nemer or Heather McGee for more information at 972/468-4000.
